Present continuous - Easy English Grammar

They are playing tennis.

The present continuous (also called the present progressive) is a verb tense used to describe actions that are currently happening or are in progress at the present moment.

It is formed by combining the present tense of the verb "to be" (am, is, are) with the present participle (-ing) of the main verb.

For example, "I am eating breakfast" or "They are playing soccer." It is often used to talk about future plans and arrangements as well.
